I am trying to set up an AIM account but it always says I need to refer to my pop up blocker, even though my pop up blocker is off. Any suggestions?
Yes. Go to Tools on your menu bar. Click Internet Options. Then Click Privacy. At the bottom it should say Pop-Up Blocker. Unclick it if it is clicked.

somehow i stupidly added this yahoo toolbar and now yahoo is my home page. how do i get rid of it and how do i get rid of the pop up blocker on it?
Look on the left side of the Yahoo toolbar.
You'll see a pencil just to the right of the big red Y.
Click on the pencil.
At the bottom of the list is the uninstall command. Click on it and follow the directions. This will remove it from your browser.
Then check Start %26gt; Settings %26gt; Control Panel %26gt; Add/Remove
and look near the bottom of the list. If Yahoo Toolbar is listed there click on remove and OK.
That will remove it from your PC.
I had this problem last week at work and, if my memory serves me correctly, I believe I right clicked on the y at the far left of the toolbar. I was given the option to delete...once I did that, the popup blocker was removed as well as the toolbar. Try that.
U hv four options to do this.
First click on pencil near the search bar on yahoo toolbar and select uninstall.
Second, follow this path. Start%26gt; control panel%26gt; add remove %26gt; yahoo toolbar%26gt; change remove.
I did remove the pop up blocker program out of my computer. But, the pop up blocker stop signs still cover most of my desktop icons.
Did you remove it through Add %26 Remove Programs...If not?well
try it....or download a registry scanner....and scan your pc....
Right click and delete it. The go to the windows program folder and delete the old file if it is there. If none of that works, drag it to the recycle bin. Hit cntl/alt/delete, find it in the list and remove it. Run spyware and virus scans.
if you use toolbars like google, yahoo they would also come with popup blocker. and internet option also have setting for popup blocker
I downloaded netpumper awhile back and now I get lots of pop-ups they are seeming to get worse over time Spybot Search and Destroy won't stop them, Norton Internet Security doesn't do anything, I have tried to download a few others and even edited my registry, but nothing seems to work. What is the best pop-up blocker for netpumper adware. I will pay if I have to.

Personally, I prefer the Avast Antivirus. Out of the many products available, it puts one of the smallest drains on system resources (It slows you computer down the least). There is a free version available, and the only valuable feature it lacks is an option to schedule a recurring scan.
It does not have a popup blocker, however, I don't know of any antivirus programs that do. There are computer security packages that include both. I can reccomend that you either install something else to block popups. You can use a Yahoo or Google toolbar, both of those block popups. A better solution would be to use a browser that has a popup blocker built in, such as Firefox. Even the latest version of Internet Explorer has one built in. Just be sure it is turned on.
If you are still getting popups, especially if you get them when you aren't even browsing the web, you might have adware. Look at these products (All have free versions): Adaware, Spybot Search %26 Destroy and Microsoft Windows Defender.
My pop-up blocker is on high and I get pop-ups saying that I have errors and viruses that are making my computer slow. What's making my computer slow are those pop-ups saying that other stuff are making my computer slow! Then, I get pop-ups telling me to text for ringtones and stuff similar to that. My Yahoo and Google toolbar doesn't really help block those...........

You can download free stand-alone pop up blockers. Check out cnet, they usually have good downloads. You may also have a problem with spyware that lets them in and there are a number of free spyware scanners, too.
Certain sites create more pop-ups. If you go to sites like-- e-cards sites, free video watching, Myspace codes, joke sites, screensaver %26 ring tone sites and stuff like that you get more pop-ups. The less you go to sites like that, the less pop-ups you should have.
It may seem a bit drastic but try using a different browser. Opera (www.opera.com) is really good at blocking pop-ups, as is Firefox (www.getfirefox.com). For Firefox there is also a plugin available called Adblock Plus which allows you to subscribe to a list of known keywords and sites and prevents even more pop-ups.
